  • The Meridian Public School District's athletic program is an integral part of the total educational experience. Research demonstrates that participation in extracurricular athletics and activities is associated with higher academic achievement. Athletes have celebrated both individual and team successes, consistently placing in district, state and national rankings throughout the years.

    We believe in high standards and expectations. Personal conduct and academic achievement are integral to participation and success in the athletic arena. Staff members consistently monitor the progress of our student-athletes in order to assist them in maximizing their ability to succeed both academically and athletically.

  • MHSAA Executive committee approves proposal for fall schedule

    The MHSAA Executive Committee voted Tuesday to delay the Fall sports calendar two weeks due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Practice for cross country, swimming and volleyball can begin August 10 with competition among schools permitted starting August 24. Practice for football can begin August 17. Scrimmages between schools are allowed beginning September 4 with games starting September 11. The football playoff and championship dates are unchanged. Games scheduled for the first two weeks of the season will not be made up.

  • MHS Football is back on the field

    The Meridian Wildcats football team hit the field for their first workout of the summer Monday. Even though MHSAA allowed teams to return on June 1, the Wildcats football staff wanted to stay on the safe side and waited two more weeks to get started.

  • All 20 MHS Varsity Sports receive Scholarly honors from MHSAA

    Every varsity sports team at Meridian High School was named to the Mississippi High School Athletic Association’s Scholarly Sports Team for the 2019-2020 school year. Teams receive the distinction for a team-wide cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
