Academics - Courses Offered

  • Meridian High School works to educate a diverse student body. To better serve each academic group, MHS has three diploma options: the Basic Diploma, the Standard Diploma, and the Scholars Diploma. The Basic Diploma is awarded to students who meet the minimum state requirements for graduation. The Standard Diploma is awarded to students who take an average course of study. The Scholars Diploma is awarded to students who take an above-average course of study, including Advanced Placement and Honors classes.  

    The Meridian High School Program of Study is designed to provide all students with a wide variety of challenging courses in all curricular areas.  Schools must prepare students to succeed in the global economy of the 21st century.  Students must acquire academic knowledge, technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and teamwork techniques.  The Program of Study provides the opportunity for students to prepare for post-secondary education or to apply their skills in the workplace.  Students select among course appropriate for their career plans.  Career guidance and counseling is provided to all students to assist them in selecting courses that will prepare them for future career options.
