The Meridian Public School District Director of Public Relations works with the Superintendent, administrators, staff, community, and media to provide accurate, up-to-date information as well as highlight the successes of our district and schools. Media relations, crisis communications, photos, newsletters, events, communication policy, recognitions, social media management, and image management are all part of the Communication Department.
MPSD uses a variety of methods to communicate general, day-to-day news as well as emergency alerts (such as weather-related school closures). Be sure to follow the Meridian Public School District on Facebook, Instagram (@mpsdwildcas), and Twitter (@MPSD_Wildcats).

MHS’ Patel receives Star Student Honor; Evans named Star Teacher
Meridian High School Senior BiJen Patel was recently named the STAR Student for the 2020-2021 school year by the Mississippi Economic Council (MEC) M. B. Swayze Foundation, sponsor of the Student-Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) program.

Board approves 2021-2022 Academic Calendar
The Meridian Public School District Board of Trustees approved the 2021-2022 Academic Calendar during their monthly meeting on Tuesday, March 23, 2021. The major addition to the 2021-22 calendar is monthly distance learning days. On these days students will learn from home using the district’s learning management system. These days will take place on the last Wednesday of the month except for November 2021 and February 2022.

Second FAFSA drive-thru event to be held April 14 at MCC Workforce Development Center
GEAR UP MS and MHS are excited to partner with Get2College to host another DRIVE-THRU FAFSA Day where you can get your financial aid applications taken care of in the safety and comfort of your own car. The Drive-Thru event will be held April 14, 2021, from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm.

Online kindergarten registration for the 2021-2022 school year is now open to students who are new to MPSD and will be 5 years old by September 1, 2021.
