APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR PROSPECTIVE TEACHING PERSONNEL
TEACHER CERTIFICATION: Before a teaching certificate can be issued by the State Department of Education, all prospective teaching applicants applying for a Mississippi certificate for the first time, must submit and have approved, a completed “Mississippi Educator Licensure Application Packet” containing all required official supporting documentation for the specific class of license(s) requested.

MISSISSIPPI TEACHING CERTIFICATE: A valid Mississippi Teaching Certificate, indicating certified areas of endorsement at the elementary or secondary grade level, should accompany your application. Please enter your Educator's License Number in the appropriate section of the online application.
RECOMMENDATION FORMS: The three (3) enclosed recommendation forms are to be given to the individuals you have listed as references on your application. The forms must be mailed by the individuals completing the recommendations to the Meridian Public School District Office of Human Resources. In addition to the enclosed recommendations, if college or university placement files are available, they must be mailed directly to the Meridian Public School District Office of Human Resources.
TRANSCRIPT: Official transcripts of all college credit must be furnished to the Meridian Public School District Office of Human Resources before your file is complete. Transcripts must indicate that you have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
EMPLOYEE BACKGROUND CHECK: The employee background screening process will be conducted on any individual recommended for employment in the Meridian Public School District. This process, which includes fingerprinting and the child abuse registry check, will take place at the Meridian Public School District Office. This process must be done before your file is complete. The fee is $60, payable only in cash.
ACCEPTANCE OF OTHER POSITIONS: If you accept a teaching position in another school system, please notify the Meridian Public School District Office of Human Resources.
