The Meridian Public School District's athletic program is an integral part of the total educational experience. Research demonstrates that participation in extracurricular athletics and activities is associated with higher academic achievement. Athletes have celebrated both individual and team successes, consistently placing in the district, state, and national rankings throughout the years.
We believe in high standards and expectations. Personal conduct and academic achievement are integral to participation and success in the athletic arena. Staff members consistently monitor the progress of our student-athletes in order to assist them in maximizing their ability to succeed both academically and athletically.

Wilson signs with Blue Mountain Christian College
Meridian High School Boy’s Powerlifter Emmanuel Wilson will be taking his experience on the platform to Blue Mountain Christian University this Fall. Wilson made the announcement in a ceremony held on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, in the MHS Library.

Collins introduced as Lady Wildcats' Interim Head Coach
Tre Collins was officially introduced as the Interim Head Coach of the MHS Lady Wildcats Basketball team in a press conference held in the MHS Gym on Tuesday, May 16, 2023. Coach Collins has spent the last three years as an assistant coach on the staff of the MHS Boys' Basketball team. His duties included teaching offensive/defensive concepts, film breakdown, scouting reports, practice planning, game scheming, and player development. He has also served as the head coach of the MHS 9th Grade Boys Basketball Team.

Wildcat Daniel Hill claims first in 100mh and 300mh; Boys finish 4th overall
Congratulations to the MHS Boys Track and Field team for finishing in 4th place overall at the 2023 6A State Track Meet on Saturday, May 6, 2023. The meet was held at the Woody Barnett Track and Field Complex in Pearl, MS.

MHS Track and Field sets several school records at Region 3-6A Track Meet
The MHS Track and Field team competed in the Region 3-6A Track and Field Meet on Saturday, April 22, 2023, on the campus of Northwest Rankin High School. The Wildcats came away with a second-place team finish and the Lady Wildcats finished third as a team, with both teams competing in 18 events.
