The Meridian Public School District's athletic program is an integral part of the total educational experience. Research demonstrates that participation in extracurricular athletics and activities is associated with higher academic achievement. Athletes have celebrated both individual and team successes, consistently placing in the district, state, and national rankings throughout the years.
We believe in high standards and expectations. Personal conduct and academic achievement are integral to participation and success in the athletic arena. Staff members consistently monitor the progress of our student-athletes in order to assist them in maximizing their ability to succeed both academically and athletically.

City of Meridian to host parade honoring 2024 MHSAA 7A State Champions
The City of Meridian is hosting a parade in honor of the 2024 7A State Champion Wildcats’ Basketball Team. The parade will take place on Friday, March 22, 2024, beginning at 5:30 p.m.

MHS and Northwest Chess teams place first at MSCA State Championships
The Mississippi Scholastic Chess Association (MSCA) held its annual State Championship Cup on Saturday, March 9, 2024, in Starkville, Mississippi. This event is considered the organization’s largest and most representative tournament for chess in the state of Mississippi.
