Meridian High School celebrated a major milestone for Wildcat Athletics today with a ribbon-cutting ceremony officially opening the new baseball and softball complex on campus.

The event, held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Meridian High School, marked a historic return and a first. This is the first time in more than 50 years that Meridian High School baseball will be played on campus, and the first time that softball will call the MHS campus home.

The state-of-the-art complex features one of the only dual-sport, all-turf baseball and softball fields in the state of Mississippi, providing student-athletes with a high-quality, durable playing surface designed for year-round use and enhanced performance.

The new baseball and softball complex reflects Meridian Public School District’s continued commitment to investing in student-athletes, expanding opportunities, and creating facilities that support pride, performance, and community engagement. With the ribbon officially cut, the fields are now ready to host the next chapter of Wildcat history.

The Lady Wildcats will host a Jamboree on Saturday, February 7, 2026, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Softball opens the regular season on Monday, February 9, 2026, vs. Hattiesburg. Varsity plays at 6:30 pm. The Wildcat baseball team’s first home game is Tuesday, February 10, 2026, against East Marion. JV plays at 6 pm, and Varsity plays at 7 pm.
