MHS Hosts Signing Day Ceremony for Kimora Hughes’ Early Commitment to Troy University

MHS' Kimora Hughes signs to continue her academic and athletic career with Troy University as her family looks on.

Meridian High School proudly celebrated Lady Wildcat standout Kimora Hughes during a special signing day ceremony held Friday, November 21, 2025, in the MHS Multipurpose Building.

Hughes officially signed her early commitment to continue her academic and athletic career at Troy University, with family and teammates looking on.

“It means a lot to me, cause ya know, like I’ve said, it’s probably my third time saying it; but it’s a huge emphasis on how much I’ve been through and I’m just so proud of myself for not giving up,” said Hughes. “So to stick it out and achieve one of my dreams that’s been in my head - that’s been in my heart since I was 10 years old; so to be signing at the D-1 level means a lot to me.”

Hughes has been a dominant force for the Lady Wildcats this season, consistently demonstrating strong leadership and impressive play on the court. She is currently averaging 15 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block per game, proving to be one of the team’s most well-rounded and reliable players.

“We all want to express how proud we are of Kimora for achieving this major milestone in her life,” said Tre Collins, MHS Girls’ Basketball Coach. “When the time comes for her departure from this program, her graduation from MHS, and her transition to Troy University, we want her to remember… Once a Wildcat, Always a Wildcat! This will always be home!”

Congratulations, Kimora! Meridian High School is proud of all you’ve accomplished and excited for your future as a Troy Trojan.
