Track and Field Athletes receive State Championship Rings

Several Meridian High School Track and Field Student-Athletes received their State Championship Rings for their success on the track last year.

The ceremony took place in the Multipurpose Building at Meridian High and celebrated the student-athletes success for the 2023 and 2024 Track and Field Seasons.

2024 7A Boys 4x200 Meter Relay

The following students captured the 2024 7A Boys 4x200 Meter Relay State Championship with at time of 1:26.7.

Davion Smith

Smith graduated in May 2024 and is currently continuing his athletic and academic career at Coahoma Community College as a member of their Track and Field Team. Smith’s mother and brother accepted his ring in his absence.

Chad Boyd

Boyd was a Freshman for the 2024 season and returns for his sophomore season in 2025 at MHS.

Timothy Gowdy

Gowdy was a junior for the 2024 and returns for his senior season in 2025 at MHS.

Omyri Wade

Wade was a sophomore for the 2024 season and returns for his junior season in 2025 at MHS.

2024 7A Boys 110 Meter Hurdle

Kelvin Jones captured the 2024 MHSAA 7A Boys 110 Meter Hurdle State Championship as a junior and returns to the MHS Track and Field team for his senior season.

2023 6A Boys 110 Meter Hurdle Champion & 6A Boys 300 Meter Hurdle Champion

Daniel Hill was recognized for winning the 2023 6A Boys 110 Meter Hurdle Championship & 6A Boys 300 Meter Hurdle Championship during 2023, which was his junior year at MHS. Hill graduated from MHS in December 2023 to enroll early at the University of Alabama where he is a member of the Crimson Tide’s Football team. Hill was represented by his parents Demetrius and Kim Hill at the ceremony.
