Meridian High School Celebrates Star Student Aaron Walker for 2025–2026

Meridian High School is proud to recognize Aaron Walker as its Star Student for the 2025–2026 school year, honoring his exceptional achievements and dedication to excellence.

Aaron stands out as a model student whose hard work, creativity, and leadership have made a lasting impression both in the classroom and across the school community. Known for his passion for the arts, he consistently brings energy and originality to every project and performance, inspiring those around him.

“Well, being Star Student is really a great honor for me,” said Walker. “I mean, my brother was Star Student before me, so it’s nice to sorta carry on that legacy and really everything I do, I think I try kinda to, uh, do something that I think would make my brother, my mom, my dad — you know, just happy for me and proud for me.”

Aaron is also an active member of the award-winning Wildcat Players theatre club, where he showcases his talent and deep love for the performing arts. Following graduation, he plans to attend Alabama State University to major in Theatre, with aspirations of building a future in the arts and education.

As part of the Star Student recognition, Aaron selected Mr. Randy Wayne as his Star Teacher. This honor reflects the meaningful impact Mr. Wayne has had through his guidance, encouragement, and commitment to student success. His dedication continues to shape and inspire future artists, such as Aaron.

Walker chose Wayne as his Star Teacher because he said that he appreciates the way he pushed him to get out of his comfort zone when he first joined the theatre program.

"I really appreciate having someone to guide and support me—helping me find my passion and providing resources to pursue theatre beyond high school," Walker said.

The Student-Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) Program is sponsored by the Mississippi Business Alliance in an a effort to encourage scholastic achievement among Mississippi’s high school students and to recognize the teaching profession.

Both Aaron Walker and Mr. Randy Wayne will be recognized on April 9, 2026, during the STAR 2026 Education Celebration at the Clyde Muse Center in Pearl, MS.

Mr. Wayne said that it’s been a joy to watch Walker grow into a leader over the years in the Wildcat Players.

“He’s a Star Student, so those qualities just kind of exude and radiate out of him anyway, said Wayne.
