Every School Day Counts!

Attendance Fact Photo

September is Attendance Awareness Month, and the Meridian Public School District is reminding students and families that showing up every day matters!

Regular school attendance is one of the most important factors in helping students stay on track academically, build confidence, and experience success both in the classroom and beyond.

Did you know that missing just two days of school each month can add up to nearly an entire month of lost learning over the course of a school year? Every absence can mean missed instruction, classroom activities, opportunities to connect with teachers and classmates, and important moments in a student’s educational journey.

Good attendance helps students:

  • Stay on track with their learning
  • Build strong academic and personal habits
  • Develop confidence and independence
  • Strengthen relationships with teachers and classmates
  • Prepare for success in school, college, careers, and life

Attendance is a team effort. Families, teachers, schools, and our community all play an important role in helping students be present, engaged, and prepared to learn.

This September, let’s work together to build strong attendance habits that last all year long. Talk with your child about the importance of being at school each day, establish routines that make getting to school on time easier, and reach out to your child’s school when challenges arise.

Because when students show up, they have more opportunities to learn, grow, lead, and succeed.

Every student. Every day. Every school day counts!
