Meridian Public School District Shares Updates with Rotary Club
Meridian, Miss. — The Meridian Public School District had the privilege of meeting with the Rotary Club of Meridian today to provide an update on current initiatives and ongoing progress within the district during their weekly meeting.
MPSD Superintendent Dr. Amy Carter highlighted the ongoing and completed construction projects taking place across MPSD campuses, emphasizing the importance of creating modern, student-centered learning environments. In addition to celebrating recent successes, district representatives also addressed areas for continued growth and improvement.
Meridian High School Principal Sherrod Miller, accompanied by several MHS students, spoke about the Academies of Meridian and the unique opportunities they provide. These academies allow students to explore career pathways, gain hands-on learning experiences, and develop the skills necessary for college, career, and life success.
Thank you to the following students for sharing what they love about MHS and the Academies of Meridian:
- Alaysia Leggett – Freshman Academy
- MaKiyla Kelly – Arts Academy
- Ra’Khia Fountain – Health Academy
- Jalandquias Graham-Jenkins – Business Academy
The presentation also featured information about the Meridian Collegiate Academy, an innovative partnership with Meridian Community College that enables Meridian High School juniors and seniors to graduate with both a high school diploma and an associate’s degree from Meridian Community College. This dual-enrollment opportunity provides students with a significant head start toward higher education and career advancement.
“We are grateful to the Rotary Club of Meridian for allowing us to share the exciting progress happening in our schools,” said Superintendent Dr. Amy Carter. “Partnerships like these strengthen our community and support our mission of preparing all students for success.”
