What a start to the first day of school!
The Meridian Public School District welcomed Wildcats back to campuses across Meridian on Friday, August 7, as the 2026-2027 school year officially got underway. From the moment students walked through the doors, there was an excitement in the air as classrooms came to life, teachers welcomed their scholars, and another year of learning and opportunity began.
Across the district, faculty and staff were ready to welcome students with smiles, encouragement, and a renewed commitment to helping every learner reach their full potential.
As the school year begins, Superintendent Dr. Amy J. Carter is challenging MPSD and the Meridian community to move forward together with a shared vision and purpose.

That charge reflects the belief that the success of our students is a shared responsibility. When our schools, families, businesses, organizations, and community partners work together, we create greater opportunities for every learner.
The 2026-2027 school year brings new opportunities to learn, grow, lead, and achieve. With a strong focus on academic excellence, leadership development, meaningful relationships, and preparing learners for their futures, MPSD is excited about what lies ahead.
