MPSD Board Approves Emergency Declaration for Carver Elementary School

Damage to the gym floor at Carver Elementary School caused by a ruptured pipe over the weekend of January 31, 2026.

Meridian, MS - The Meridian Public School District Board of Trustees approved a declaration of emergency for Carver Elementary School during a special called board meeting held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.

The emergency declaration was approved in response to a ruptured pipe fitting that resulted in extensive flooding in the cafeteria, multipurpose room, and gym over the weekend of January 31, 2026.

District administrators presented the request to allow for immediate action to address the damage, begin necessary repairs, and ensure the safety and continuity of school operations.

MPSD officials are currently assessing the full extent of the damage and working with appropriate contractors and insurance representatives to expedite repairs.

Thanks to MPSD Operations, school staff and ServePro, students were able to continue school with the school day as normal.
