Northwest Middle Students Bring the “Northwest Café” to Life

Students in Ms. Alvarez’s class at Northwest Middle School spent the morning of October 30, 2025, transforming their classroom into a bustling restaurant as part of the Life Skills Series Lesson. The hands-on activity, titled the “Northwest Café,” gave students the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of running a restaurant — from teamwork and communication to customer service and organization.

Each student was assigned a specific role, including host, server, cook, and cashier, as they worked together to serve breakfast to guests who stopped by the café. The activity not only encouraged collaboration but also helped students practice essential life and social skills in a fun, real-world setting.

Ms. Alvarez shared that the experience was designed to help students build confidence while applying practical lessons they can use beyond the classroom. The “Northwest Café” was a success — filled with smiles, teamwork, and plenty of breakfast delights!
