The Meridian Public School District is proud to announce the appointment of Clyde Owens as the new principal of Parkview Elementary School for the 2026–2027 school year.

Owens brings nearly two decades of experience in education, with a career dedicated to strengthening instruction, developing teachers, and improving student achievement. He has served in a variety of roles, including classroom teacher, lead teacher, K–12 district instructional specialist, and currently serving as a assistant principal at Magnolia Middle School. Notably, Owens also has prior experience at Parkview Elementary, making his return especially meaningful for the school community.

He earned both his Bachelor’s degree in Education and Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Mississippi State University and is set to complete his Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in Teacher Leadership in May 2026.

“I’m excited to return to Parkview Elementary and lead the next phase of growth,” said Owens. “My goal is to build a culture where strong instruction, clear systems, meaningful relationships, and strong partnerships with families and the community are the standard.”

Owens emphasized a commitment to ensuring every student receives high-quality, standards-aligned instruction while every teacher is supported and developed. His leadership will focus on strengthening Tier I instruction, maintaining consistency across classrooms, and using data to guide decision-making.

“We will be intentional in our work—focusing on strong Professional Learning Communities and ensuring that every decision supports student growth,” Owens added. “I believe every student can learn at high levels, and it is our responsibility to ensure they do.”

With a clear vision centered on growth, accountability, and results, Owens is eager to lead Parkview Elementary into a new chapter of excellence.

“At Parkview, we will pursue excellence in everything we do—because good is not enough when excellence is possible.”
