Former Meridian Mayor speaks at Girls With Pearls event
Tenth-Twelfth grade girls at Meridian High School had a special guest during November’s Girls With Pearls Mentor group on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at Meridian High School. Guest speakers for the event were Cheri Barry, Executive Director of the Foundation for Rush and former mayor of Meridian, and Tabbotha Adams-Jones, founder of Girls with Pearls.

All Meridian Public School District Schools and Offices will be closed Monday, November 22-Friday, November 26, 2021, for the Thanksgiving Holidays. Schools and Offices will reopen on Monday, November 29, 2021. We hope everyone has a fantastic Thanksgiving Break!

Super readers at Oakland Heights Elementary
Congratulations to Mrs. Topcik’s Kindergarten Class and Mr. Williams’ 2nd Grade Class at Oakland Heights Elementary for the most number of books read in their grade level in the entire district and the highest percentage correct on the Accelerated Reader Tests in the District.

Families of kindergarten – 3rd grade students invited to regional literacy meetings across state
Today, The Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) kicks off a series of eight regional literacy meetings across the state for families of students in kindergarten through 3rd grade. All meetings are from 6 –7 p.m. and no registration is required. The first one takes place tonight in McComb. Other locations include Oxford, Jackson, Moss Point, Yazoo City, Itta Bena, and Starkville.

Congratulations to Meridian High School homecoming queen Kennedy Hearns, and MHS Homecoming King, Chase Essix. The MHS seniors were named the 2021 Homecoming Queen and King during halftime of the Wildcats’ game against Terry on Friday, October 29, 2021.
