    National Beta members from Meridian High School are celebrating their recent participation in the Mississippi Senior Beta State Convention. This is the third year the club has attended the State Convention, but it is the first year they have participated in the competitions.

    The Meridian Public School District is pleased to announce that the 2023-24 Administrator of the Year is Dana Bell, Principal of Crestwood Elementary and the 2023-24 Teacher of the Year is Donna Smith, of Meridian High School. The announcement was made during the February 20, 2024, meeting of the MPSD Board of Trustees.

    Third-graders in the Meridian Public School District had reason to celebrate on Friday, February 23, 2024. The atmosphere was festive at G.W. Carver Elementary as third-graders from MPSD’s Elementary Schools gathered to celebrate completing the book “Judy Moody Is In A Mood.”

    Meridian/Lauderdale County is now an ACT Work Ready Community

    Local and state officials, including those in the education, business, and government arenas, announced it today at a press conference at Downtown Meridian’s Dumont Plaza. ACT Work Ready Communities initiative assists an area, region, or state in developing its workforce pipeline to provide skilled workers for employers. The framework allows each participating community to quantify and improve the skill levels of its workforce through a standardized workforce skill credential, the ACT WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certificate.
