MPSD remains a Successful District in the latest MDE Ratings
MERIDIAN, MS, September 28, 2023 – For the second consecutive year, the Meridian Public School District will be designated as a successful school district for the 2022-2023 school year when the Mississippi State Board of Education approves official grades for Mississippi schools and districts on Thursday, September 28, 2023.

Judge rules to release MPSD from Desegregation Order and Consent Decree
On Tuesday, September 12, 2023, U.S. District Judge Henry Wingate ruled to release the Meridian Public School District from a decades-long desegregation lawsuit and the federal supervision that stems from the Consent Decree that was entered into by the Department of Justice and MPSD in March 2013.

MPSD’s middle schools awarded Save the Music grants
Students in the Meridian Public School District’s resurgent middle school band programs recently received some news that was music to their ears. Both Magnolia Middle School and Northwest Middle School were named recipients of a Save The Music Build Your Core Programs grant aimed at restoring instrumental music in public schools across the United States.

MPSD spotlighted for district-level implementation by Leader In Me
The Meridian Public School District was asked to be one of a few districts in the country to participate in a series of videos produced by Leader In Me Studios that focuses on district-level implementation of the Leader In Me. MPSD began its journey with Leader In Me with the idea of creating leadership opportunities for all of its students.
