Update: Board approves amended 2021-2022 Academic Calendar

The MPSD Board of Trustees approved the amended 2021-2022 Academic Calendar during their special called board meeting on July 27, 2021.
Changes to the calendar include the following:
- Elimination of monthly virtual days to align with SBE policies to resume school in the traditional learning method.
- Addition of Progress Report Dates, Report Card Dates, and Grading Periods.
March 26, 2021 - The Meridian Public School District Board of Trustees approved the 2021-2022 Academic Calendar during their monthly meeting on Tuesday, March 23, 2021.
The major addition to the 2021-22 calendar is monthly distance learning days. On these days students will learn from home using the district’s learning management system. These days will take place on the last Wednesday of the month except for November 2021 and February 2022. The distance learning day for November 2021 will take place on Friday, November 19, which is the Friday before Thanksgiving Break begins. Students will also have a distance learning day on Friday, February 18, 2022.
Teacher professional development will take place on August 2-4, 2021, before students return to campus on Thursday, August 5, 2021. Schools will be closed on Monday, September 6 for Labor Day and Fall Break on October 11-12.
Thanksgiving Break will take place November 22-26 and Winter Break will be December 20, 2021-January 3, 2022. Following the break, teachers return on January 4 for two days of professional development. Students will return on Thursday, January 6, 2022.
Students will be off on Monday, January 17, 2022, for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and February 21, 2022, for President’s Day. Spring Break is March 14-18, 2022, and students will also be off April 15 & 18 for Easter Break.
The last day for students is Wednesday, May 25, 2022, while teachers have professional development on May 26 before their last day on Friday, May 27, 2022.
