The Meridian High School Wildcats marching band participated in the Smackdown Battle of the Bands in Fayette, Mississippi on Saturday, March 25, 2023. The band received Superior ratings from judges and 2nd place out of 4 bands in the large division.

Following the competition, the MHS band’s senior students were offered scholarships to Mississippi Valley State University. Those students are Jamira Batiste, Liiric Trussell, Aniyah Hudnall, Macy Campbell, Tyshun Hopson, Jordan Davis, Akaylah McCoy, Alyssa Bland, Zaccheus Little, Tyler Nicholson, and Zykerria Foy.
