Magnolia's Brown wins Middle School Spelling Bee

Jaylon Brown, an 8th Grader at Magnolia Middle School, won the Meridian Public School District Middle School Spelling Bee on Monday, April 1, 2019.

Kimara Sheffield, a 7th Grader from Northwest placed second and Kameron Johnson, an 8th grader also from Northwest placed third. The event featured 18 students from 6th-8th grades from Carver Middle, Magnolia Middle, and Northwest Middle School.

The winning word was "haberdashery" and the spelling bee lasted 12 rounds.
