Crestwood students learn about the importance of attending school daily

Denise Todd speaks with Crestwood students about attending school daily.
 
Leslie Jenkins, counselor at Crestwood Elementary, coordinated with Denise Todd,  MDE Attendance Officer, to present to students the importance of being at school. 
 
Three Important facts shared with students are:
  • Missing TWO (2) days a month is considered CHRONIC absenteeism
  • Poor attendance can influence their reading proficiency
  • When attendance improves, a student improves their academic ability and chances for graduating.
September is "Attendance Awareness Month."
