FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
June 22, 2022 -- Meridian Public School District is proud to announce the hiring of Mr. Matt Johnson as the new director of Ross Collins Career and Technical Center. Johnson has served as the center’s assistant director and the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Test Coordinator for the past three years.
“I’m extremely excited about my new position as director of Ross Collins Career and Technical Center,” said Johnson. “CTE is a passion of mine and I look forward to working with all of Meridian Public Schools and Meridian students to ensure that they are successful in the workforce.”
Johnson said he’d like to focus on these goals for his first year as director.
“I look forward to increasing enrollment. I feel like that all students should take a CTE course, increase national certifications and increase scores on our workkeys to make sure our students are employable in the community,” he said.
Mr. Johnson has worked for the Meridian Public School District since 2007. During his time with MPSD, spent entirely at Ross Collins, he taught the automotive service technology program. He also served as a dual credit instructor with Meridian Community College.
Johnson graduated from East Mississippi Community College in 2003. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Mississippi State University in 2011 and graduated with his Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University in 2016.
