Sulton throws 3rd career No-Hitter as Lady Wildcats blank Laurel
Sophomore pitcher Jazlynn Sulton threw her 3rd career No-hitter as the Lady Wildcats beat Laurel 15-0 to improve to 3-0 on the young season. The Lady Cats were led at the plate by sophomore Caitlyn Williams with 2 hits and 2 RBI’s. Freshman Taylor Ruffin also had 2 RBI’s. The Lady Cats will back in action tonight at Yazoo County with Junior Varsity playing at 5 p.m. and Varsity playing at 6:30 p.m. The Lady Wildcat will host Bay Springs on Saturday, February 25, at 12 p.m. & 1:30 p.m.
MHS Baseball
Wildcats 14, Laurel 3
The Wildcats picked up their second win of the young season as they beat Laurel 14-3 on Thursday, February 23, 2023.
The Wildcats scored two runs in the first inning and collected five more in the sixth inning. Tylan Cole, Nick Stevens, Fred Liddell Jr., and DaMarion Terrell all drove in runs in the frame in the top of the sixth inning.
James Carson took the win for the Wildcats. The lefty allowed seven hits and three runs over six innings, striking out seven.
The Wildcats launched one home run on the day. Cole went yard in the sixth inning.
MHS returns to action tonight against Philadelphia at Q.V. Sykes Field. Junior Varsity takes the field at 5 p.m. and Varsity plays at 7 p.m. The Wildcats will host Forest at 11 a.m. and West Point at 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2023.
MHS Tennis
MHS Tennis played our first home match today. The Wildcats took 2 of the 7 courts. MHS Boys Singles Will Dickerson defeated Enterprise’s Maddux Turner 6-1, 6-1.
MHS #1 Boys Doubles Kayden Brooks and Zackary Walker split sets with Sam Hopkins and Levi Williams and our boys won the court in an exciting tie-breaker 10-4.
The other five courts were very competitive. Wildcat J.V/Middle School players were able to get some court time and experience under their belts. All of our players represented MHS well on and off the court.
The tennis team returns to action when they host Brandon at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, February 27, 2023.
MHS Track and Field
The MHS Track and Field Team will compete at Hattiesburg High School today. Field Events at 12 p.m. & running events at 2 p.m.
The Wildcat Track and Field Team returns home and will host the MHS Wildcat Relays beginning at 2 p.m. at Ray Stadium on Monday, February 27, 2023.
