Built By Meridian: Ashley Tanksley
Today we are launching a spotlight to showcase the many great alumni that have graduated from Meridian High School.
We are rounding up Meridian High School Alumni stories for one simple reason: to inspire and lead the way for the younger generation to see what it means to be Built By Meridian.
The accomplishments of Meridian High School alumni are far too great and numerous to go untold. Our current MHS students will be entering college and the workforce in a few short years and will benefit from hearing stories of those who have charged ahead of them, whether that path was traditional or non-traditional.
Today we spotlight Ashley Wilson Tanksley, who is a 2013 graduate of Meridian High School! #BuiltByMeridian
My name is Ashley Wilson Tanksley and I was born and raised in Meridian, MS. I graduated from Meridian High School in May of 2013 and attended Jackson State University. I had dreams of becoming a speech-language pathologist, which led me to earn a bachelor of science in Communicative Disorders.
The Lord had other plans for me, so after I graduated from college, I moved back home where I began teaching at Meridian Head Start Center. I worked there for a few months before starting at Meridian Community College as a recruiter in February 2018. Throughout my time in recruiting, I became connected with our community in various ways. I now serve as the Director of Admissions at MCC.
I have since earned my master’s degree in Student Affairs in Higher Education and was recently awarded MCCer of the month for July 2021. I pride myself in being a true “Meridianite” that not only cares about the students I serve daily, but our community as a whole.
